Sheryl Crow believes that growing up surrounded by “chaos” helped her in her musical career.
The 59-year-old star grew up in a house with six pianos. She believes that constant noise has proved ultimately beneficial.
She told the independent: “My mother was a piano teacher and was very positive.
“She gave a group lesson with four children at a time in the music room, and then there was a piano in the living room where we practiced. It was all done all the time.
“I attribute some of my ability to hear my voice in the world to being able to choose myself from that random chaos.”
Cheryl believes that music and art have the power to help people survive the difficult times of life.
She states: “Music and Art: It’s the one that overcomes all of these truly bizarre times.
“Something that permeates and resonates in the same place of all of us.”
Meanwhile, Cheryl previously confessed that Prince’s death in April 2016 changed her approach to songwriting.
The musicians have been recording and playing together several times during their careers, but have been unable to keep in touch with each other in the last decade of his life.
She said: “I have never met him. There are moments when you think,’I wish I were in touch, I wish I could be a better friend.’”
Cheryl explained how Prince’s death affected her approach to music and her career.
She states: “When he died, they started showing all this old footage and I started listening to all the old music that I loved and was very meaningful to me.
“It made me do it, while I was in the studio and writing, his death made me feel like everything but love, compassion, and compassion seemed worthless.
“And this was when our US campaign was taking place, it was very vibrant, and you’ll see the light go out to this incredible talent. , And it made me want to make music that was important to me. It regained urgency. “
