NBA star Westbrook and his family help celebrate reopening of amped-up Crenshaw Family YMCA – Daily News

In one of the grandest reopenings in a week packed with such celebrations, the Los Angeles’ Crenshaw Family YMCA swung open its doors anew on Thursday, June 17, with the unveiling of a reinvigorated sports facility, including new basketball courts.

The revamp was made possible, officials said, by donations from the Jordan Brand of athletic and apparel products and the Russell Westbrook Why Not? Foundation.

The center, like much of the state, emerged from restrictive pandemic-era restrictions this week. Businesses and public venues in Los Angeles County and across California ]returned to mostly normal operations with the lifting of COVID-19-prompted capacity limits and physical distancing requirements.

Joining longtime NBA star Westbrook in marking the occasion were:

  • Alan Hostrup, CEO/president of YMCA-Los Angeles;
  • Veda Ramsay, executive director of the Crenshaw Family YMCA; and
  • Actor-comedian  Young Wayne, who hosted the event.
