Atlantic 10 Releases 2021-22 Men’s Basketball Schedule Pairings

NEWPORT NEWS, Va. – The Atlantic 10 schedule pairings for the 2021-22 season have been announced in a release from conference officials Thursday. It will be the eighth straight season with an 18-game league slate.

Each team will play every A-10 opponent once, and five conference foes twice. The A-10 returns to a normal schedule following a unique 2020-21 season in which the conference navigated the effects of the COVID-19 pandemic. St. Bonaventure won the regular season and A-10 Championship and was joined by VCU in earning NCAA Tournament bids. It was the 15th straight NCAA Tournament and 35th time overall that the A-10 earned multiple bids into the Big Dance.

St. Bonaventure is scheduled to play home-and-home contests with Duquesne, Richmond, Saint Joseph’s, Saint Louis and VCU.

The Bonnies are also slated to host Davidson, Fordham, UMass and Rhode Island in addition to their home-and-home partners. Road trips include dates at Dayton, George Mason, La Salle and George Washington.

The 2022 Atlantic 10 Men’s Basketball Championship will be played March 9-13 and will return to Capital One Arena in Washington, D.C.

The complete 2021-22 conference schedule with dates and times, as well as national television information, will be released at a later date.

Bona’s entire starting lineup from last year’s Atlantic 10 Championship squad is set to return. Point guard Kyle Lofton (14.4 ppg, 5.5 apg) is back after consecutive seasons of being named First Team All-Atlantic 10. Osun Osunniyi (10.7 ppg, 9.4 rpg, 2.8 bpg) earned A-10 Defensive Player of the Year and Tournament MVP honors while Jaren Holmes (13.8 ppg, 5.3) also received All-Conference recognition last year. Fellow seniors Dominick Welch (11.4 ppg, 6.0 rpg) and Jalen Adaway (12.2 ppg, 6.0 rpg) complete one of the most talented returning lineups in the nation. The starting five is bolstered by an exciting recruiting class including ACC transfers Abdoul Karim Coulibaly, a power forward who started 20 of 22 games at Pitt last year, and former Wake Forest guard Quadry Adams. Junior college All-American Linton Brown adds another scoring threat after shooting over 48 percent from long distance last year while junior college center transfer Oluwasegun Durosinmi was one of the nation’s top shot blockers last season. Freshman guards Joryam Saizonou and Justin Ndjock-Tadjore further bolster Bona’s depth.
