Germantown’s Arnold, Muskego’s Wohler earn high school sports awards

Germantown basketball player and Muskego football, basketball and track and field standout Hunter Wohler were named the male and female athletes of the year by the Journal Sentinel. Germantown girls basketball coach Matt Stuve was named coach of the year.

The story of the 2020-21 school year wouldn’t be complete without Kamorea “KK” Arnold and Hunter Wohler.

The two standouts were driving forces on two of the area’s best teams all year. Arnold led Germantown’s girls basketball team to its first state championship and claimed All-American distinction in addition to state player of the year awards from The Associated Press and Gatorade.

Wohler, a senior, anchored the defense for the Warriors football team, was named state player of the year by the AP and Gatorade after leading the Warriors to their third straight undefeated season. After he put away his cleats, he earned all-conference distinction in basketball and won a state title in the 800-meter relay at the state track and field meet.

The two were so dominant that the Journal Sentinel named our female and male athlete of the year during the Milwaukee High School Sports Awards, which debuted Wednesday night. The newspaper also tabbed Germantown girls basketball coach Matt Stuve as the coach of the year and Marquette soccer as its team of the year.
